EAM Jaishankar delivers keynote address at Indian Ocean Conference in Oman, holds multiple bilateral meetings

External affairs minister (EAM) S Jaishankar delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Oman on Monday.
In his speech, Jaishankar highlighted India’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability in the Indian ocean region, said the Ministry of external affairs in a statement.
He also met Oman’s foreign minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, to review bilateral ties. The discussions focused on avenues for further enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with Jaishankar thanking Oman for its support in strengthening relations.
The minister also launched a special logo marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman and unveiled a book on the shared history of both nations.
The book ‘Mandvi to Muscat: Indian community and the shared history of India and Oman’, documents the long-standing presence of the Indian diaspora in Oman and their role in shaping bilateral ties.
Jaishankar also held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from Brunei, Bangladesh, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Nepal. The discussions covered regional security, trade, and cooperation in the Indian ocean region.
After his visit, Jaishankar shared on social media the key moments that reinforced India’s engagement with the region.
